Project Grant will be launching a new initiative, 48 Hours, a weekend residency open to professionals and students, whose work aligns to improving social justice issues in their respected communities. As a collective, the group will work together to produce a public engagement component by the end of their stay, and will participate in the weekend sessions, which are composed of discussions, readings and group exercises.
During it’s first summer of full time programming, Project Grant worked with several artists to produce 3 projects on the West Side and in the Old First Ward in Buffalo, NY. Each project was created to fit the needs of the community, with a focus on working with the youth. Artists in residence included: Christine Heller, Kyla Kegler, Hope Mora, Jenna North and Erik Parra.
During the colder months, Project Grant opened up it’s doors to the public once a month for Artz Talk, a monthly gathering of artists who wish to engage with others through critical discourse and sharing of current or past works.
